On Copley Latin Day, the University of Michigan welcomes high school students from Ann Arbor and the Detroit area for activities involving Latin and Roman civilization, including talks by the faculty in Classical Studies, visits to the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and to the Hatcher Papyrology collection, and presentations by the students themselves. We hope the day’s activities will both excite students about studying Latin and show them what the University of Michigan and the Dept. of Classical Studies have to offer.
Copley Latin Day is named in honor of Frank O. Copley, a Latinist of note and beloved teacher in the Dept. of Classical Studies from 1934 to 1977.
